Guest Epistle for 5-13-08

by Dave White/Chapel Rock Executive Director

Looking for adventure, spiritual growth, and fun in the cool pines of northern Arizona this summer? Then make tracks for Chapel Rock, the Episcopal Camp Community in Prescott, to join in one of our five camp programs! Whether you are 8 or 80, or any age in between, we'd love to see you!

Wizards and Wonders is the theme of our camp program for kids completing grades 3-8. Join Harry Potter and his friends for a trip to Hogwarts, learn to play quidditch, and attend Transformation class with Professor McGonagall. Along the way, experience the "magic" of a changed life through a commitment to Jesus.

Junior High and Senior High Camps are brand new this summer. You have questions-this is a great opportunity to ask them! Your questions, discussion, feedback, and participation in worship will make the Chapel Rock experience unforgettable. Count on all the wild and fun stuff you have come to enjoy at camp, as well.

Speaking of W.I.L.D., our Wilderness Introduction to Leadership Development for high schoolers is filling up fast. If you have a desire to test yourself and more deeply explore your Christian commitment, W.I.L.D. is the place for you.

In August, Camp 60's More or Less Camp takes over, and campers who are 60 (more or less!) have the opportunity to enjoy learning, fellowship, and relaxation at Chapel Rock. "Discovering God's Plan for Your Life" is this year's message, and this ecumenical group welcomes all who wish to join them in growing deeper in their faith.

The dates, details and costs for all of these adventures can be found on our website - www.chapelrock.net. Scholarship assistance is available for all programs. Come join us and make the summer of 2008 a season to remember!

Leviticus 19.31 (NRSV) Do not turn to mediums or wizards; do not seek them out, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

I think kids would have fun exploring Christian topics in a Harry Potter-themed camp. Thanks for thinking of this and letting us know about it.
